Well, Thanksgiving is only a day away now! :-) I'm looking forward to seeing my mom and stepdad and eating lots of yummy food. Unfortunately, harvest is running extremely late this year so it looks like Jeremy may not even to be able to join us for the meal. :-( He was supposed to smoke the turkey too. I could just cry! :-( Oh well, we will have to make the best of things. Can't change anything by being depressed. :-)
I decided I would make a post listing all of the many things I am thankful for this year. I am truly blessed!
-My faith in God, and God's love for me.
-My loving, hardworking, awesome husband.
-My beautiful son, the joy of our lives!
-The fact that Levi has slept through the night since he was 6 weeks old without fail. (except the one or two occasions when he was sick)
-Our home that we are so blessed to own and do what we please with.
-Being able to stay home with Levi
-A church that's "alive", that we love, and all the ministries we can participate in. (Bible Studies, Game night, church meals, Craft days, etc)
-My mom, who has always been my best friend. Sometimes we call each other every day, sometimes it's multiple times a day! I hope she doesn't get tired of me "bugging" her. :-)
-My "other mom", my MIL who lives nearby and is always willing to babysit, or help with little sewing projects, etc.
-My good health and my family's good health.
-All of our pets
-My laptop computer. :-)
-Living in America
Thank you, Lord, for blessing my life with so many good things!

Levi on the move
My son is so funny! He's so quirky. He really cracks us up sometimes. I got a video yesterday of his unique mode of transportation. Enjoy! Oh yeah, there's a really sad part at the end when I tell him no and he just melts. I'm really not a mean mom! He's just very sensitive sometimes. :-)

Ready to Go
Yesterday, Jeremy and I made a trip to Home Depot and got everything but the kitchen sink (literally!) for the Big Kitchen Project. Boy oh boy, what has Jeremy gotten himself into? : See this picture? That's 22 base and wall cabinets, all unfinished oak. All of which will be stained and finished by The Man. He's got a loooooottttt of work ahead of him!
Here's a good view of the countertops. They were hard to see in the other picture I posted last week. I LOVE them!!! Beautiful!!! And they're going to look awesome with the floor too. (didn't get a pic of that today, it was all wrapped up in plastic.
-
This was the trailer before we unloaded it. We couldn't have got much else in there! This is cabinets, flooring, countertops, and misc. There was also a lot of stuff in the back of the pickup.
Fall harvest has been delayed, so Jerm will be doing a little here and there to get things going. Our goal is to have this done by the first of the year. *gasp* Are we gonna make it? Wish us luck!

Time to brag
I think it's time to brag on my baby boy. :-) I haven't given any updates lately on what Levi's been doing and learning, which has been a lot! He's so much fun these days!
-He babbles and "talks" all.the.time. He says "dada" all the time, which sometimes mean daddy and sometimes not. Usually when he's talking to his daddy, he will clearly say "Dad". He rarely says "mama" but can and does occasionally. He can say one other word, which is "hat". It comes out more like "ha-TUH" though. LOL
-When I ask him to give mama a kiss, he almost always complies. This is my favorite thing he does....it's just so sweet! He was also talking to "grammy" (my mom) on the phone the other day and he leaned over and gave the phone a kiss!
-Waves "bye-bye" all the time, and does so whenever I hang up the phone.
-Can point out mommy and daddy's nose when asked. (but not his own)
-Last week, he pulled himself up from sitting to standing. He can stand very very well now, as long as he's holding onto something.
-Instead of crawling, he bounces and scoots around on his bottom. It's hilarious to watch, but he really gets around well that way!!
-He eats very well, little bites of whatever we are eating, or pureed baby food. He has a big appetite!!
I love him! I can't believe he'll be a year old already in December. My little guy is growing up so quickly. I am so blessed, and so thankful to have him. He couldn't hardly be a better baby. ;-)

The Terrible, Horrible, No-Good Day
11/7/08 Update: Jeremy and I drove around this morning to see the fire damage from yesterday. It burned many, many acres, jumped a couple dirt roads...it started about 3 miles or so NW of our place, and they got it stopped only 1/2 mile straight up wind from our place, headed straight for us. Once again, thank you Lord for your protection!!
It's only 3:45 pm, and this has already been "one of those days." Amazingly, everything that has gone wrong today has been due to the wind! Living in Kansas, you kind of get used to the wind...it blows all the time....but today was just unusually crazy. The wind has been blowing steady 40-50 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph, all day long.
You know it's windy when:
-The drive through portion of the fast food place is "closed due to high winds."
-The flag pole in someone's yard has bent all the way over and is touching the ground.
-You go to Wal-Mart and notice one of their "cart corrals" laying in the empty lot next door.
-Your kitten tries to walk across the yard to come visit you and just about blows away.
-On the drive home your van is hit so hard by a tumbleweed the tail light is knocked out:
That was the beginning of our troubles. Then, we got home and saw our shed. The 300+ lb sliding door was, at first glance, slid open. At second glance, we realized it was completely off the track. Jeremy went out to try to fix it, and when I looked out the window this is what I saw:
The wind was blowing so blasted hard he couldn't even hang on to the door. I went out to try to help, not that I'm strong enough to do much. We obviously were not going to be able to get the door back in place, so first we tried to get some straps around the door and tie it down so it wouldn't damage the building too bad. Unfortunately, once we got the strap around it there was no where to tie it. Jeremy was standing there holding the door down against the building yelling at me to get him the hook end of the rope when the wind gusted so hard his feet were slipping out from under him. Keep in mind Jeremy is 6'3, 280, and very very muscular. The wind lifted the door upwards as he was hanging onto it, taking him up with it. He let go, flew backwards and landed on his back, then proceeded to roll and somersault 4-5 times from the momentum of the fall. It's ok, you can laugh!!! We are both laughing now picturing it again. His knee is really sore, but other than that he seems to be fine.
By this point, Jeremy was so mad he decided he would let the door go, and the wind could blow it over to the next pasture or wherever. So then he TRIED to get the door loose and off the track (it was barely hanging on by this point) but the blasted thing wouldn't let go.
Finally, he got a strap part way around the door and then drove his truck up against it to keep it from flapping. This 300+ lb door was flapping like a flag in that wind. Before we got home and got it secured, it banged up the side of the shed, twisted the track, wrecked the corner gutter, and even put a dent or two in the roof. Luckily we have insurance, hopefully they cover this!
But wait! There's more! We got inside, and I bandaged up the cut on Jeremy's finger (he doesn't even know how he got that, but it's pretty deep) and wrapped up his knee, then I told him to sit with his feet up for a while. 5 minutes later the phone rings. It's the rural fire department saying we are right in the path of a range fire and were being advised to evacuate our home. We looked out the window and realized what we thought had been dust in the air was really smoke, and it was getting pretty thick. I grabbed the babies and diaper bags, Jeremy grabbed the dog, and we grabbed a few things like our laptops, camera, and a box of photo albums. We tried to get the cat but she sensed the panic I guess and wouldn't let us catch her, so we left a window cracked open for her in case she needed to escape.
We saw the fire; it was maybe 2 miles from our house and the wind was blowing it in the direction of our place. We went into town and got lunch, ran a couple errands, and drove back by here to see they had gotten the fire under control. Right then, they called us back and said it was safe to return home, so here we are! Relaxing and hoping there is no more excitement for today. :-p
THANK YOU LORD, for keeping us and our home safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny side note: Probably because I'm weird, and because I have a big imagination, I have laid in bed many nights thinking about what I would save from a fire if I had a chance. I've had it all planned out carefully. But today, when Jeremy said "we need to get what we can and get out of here" my mind went totally blank, and I was running in circles not knowing what to do! LOL I ended up doing ok, though: I remembered the babies :-), and the dog :-)! I got my box of my old photo albums and my computer which has most of our most important pictures saved on it. I even grabbed our cameras. Everything else is just "stuff" that can mostly be replaced.

GREAT Movie!!!!!!!!!
This past weekend, Jeremy and I went to see the movie Fireproof, a movie produced by Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, GA. The movie has been out a month but just came to our local theater last week. We went, not knowing what to expect from a low-budget, Christian film (nothing against Christian movies, I just haven't seen very many that are intriguing, well-made, and non-cheesy lol), but wanting to support this church in their efforts if nothing else. Let me just say, we were impressed!!! Jeremy is not always easy to impress when it comes to movies (unless they have lots of action/fighting/intrigue) but he is still raving about how much he enjoyed this movie.
Fireproof had (mostly) great acting, some action, some truly funny moments, a lot of thought-provoking moments, and a message that was clearly Christian but not pushy or over-the-top. All actors but the lead character (Kirk Cameron) were local volunteers, which I thought was really cool.
Anyway, if you get the chance, I highly recommend this movie! And if you have unsaved friends, take them along too. You never know how they might be affected.

Can I keep 'em can I keep 'em? Please?
Seems like every.single.time our cats have a litter of kittens, there's one or two I want to keep! "But, she's so cute!" "He's so unique!" "She's so friendly!" LOL--there's always something! And every once in a while we end up keeping one. Since we currently only have 1 neutered male and 2 females (one of whom is really dumb and about to go bye-bye) I've talked myself into keeping 1 or 2 from our current "stock" of kittens. The rest have got to go to a new home soon...they're eating us out of house and home! lol
Look at these 2 pictures and you will understand why I want to keep this one my husband calls "Graphite". Isn't she gorgeous???

I'd also like to keep "Ghost", whom I don't have a good picture of at the moment. He's the one I originally thought may have been an albino, but he's not. He's got faint faint traces of orange on his tail and ears now. He's not very good looking, but he is so, so friendly!! He's a sweetie.

Cowboys and Indians
We don't really "celebrate" Halloween, but I didn't see anything wrong with having a little fun dressing up the babies and taking them around to get candy (for mommy and auntie...haha!). So my sister and I, at the last minute, came up with an Indian costume for Emily and a cowboy costume for Levi. They came out pretty cute if I must say so myself! :-) I was in a hurry taking photos and my pictures didn't come out very good though. :-(
