Kitchen Plans

So, we've finally decided to bite the bullet and remodel our kitchen this winter. Every winter during the farm's "off season" Jeremy takes on a home improvement project and since we've wanted to redo the kitchen ever since we bought this house, this will be the year for that big job. I am really excited about it--it's going to be sooo nice and such a huge improvement!!
The kitchen currently looks like this:

Standing by sink looking towards dining and living room:

Notice the weird red checkered backsplash, and the filthy nasty carpet:
The big window you see on the left is going to be replaced:

We will be replacing the carpet with vinyl of this design:

And the countertops will look like this:
Our first plan was to paint the cabinets an off white, but we decided it would just be easier to replace them with something better, so there will be medium-colored oak finish cabinets. Oh yeah, we're also replacing the sink with a "bisque" colored enameled sink. The border is coming down and the walls will be painted a sagey green. Let's see, what else.......Oh, we're adding more cupboards underneath the big window and replacing the current microwave stand/pantry with a cabinet that will match the other cabinets.
Like I said, I'm really excited about this and can't wait to see how it turns out!!! :-)

I Was Tagged!

My sister-in-law Lois tagged me to post 7 random things about myself. I'll see what I can come up with! :-)

1. I'm a Texan at heart. ;-) I was born in Texas and lived there for the first 14 years of my life, until my family moved to Arkansas. Then I moved here to Kansas at age 19 when I met my sweet husband.

2. I'm a serious bookworm. Or, I am when I have the time! When I was in grade school, year after year I won the award for "Most Books Read"....always well over 100 books per school year. Nowadays I don't find as much time for reading, plus I try to refrain from reading many books because when I get into a good book, the house and children don't get near enough attention. ;-)

3. On the same note, I find it discouraging to visit the local library. It's not real big and I feel like I've read every (interesting) book they own! Some of them I've read twice. That is not an exaggeration. If I were rich, I think I'd spend all my money on books! lol!

4. I write poetry fairly often, when inspiration hits. I've had a few poems published in newsletters in the past.

5. I can't stand clutter!! I am constantly going around the house picking things up and straightening up the coffee table, dining table, kitchen counters, etc. It just drives me batty to have clutter laying around. I even pick up Levi's toys throughout the day in spite of knowing in 5 minutes he'll have them scattered everywhere again. :-) The funny thing is, the house can be dusty or grimy and it won't bother me as long as there's no clutter laying around. lol!

6. I started taking college classes to be a nurse, but dropped out when I got married. :-p I sure don't want to do that now....my family is more important....but someday when the kid(s) are all grown I may go back to that plan.

7. I used to have a horse. When my family moved to Arkansas, we lived on 17 acres and my parents let me buy a horse. The first one I bought was a lazy bum so I sold him after a year or two and bought another one. That one was a high-strung, nervous mess. :-p Sold him after a couple years too. I guess I had bad luck with horses, but it was still fun!

Most of the people I can think of to tag have already done something like this. So, I'm going to tag just one: Nicole

Bear with me

I'm trying to find a design for my blog that I like. Bear with me while I change things around. I already lost some of my custom things like the blog list and Feedjit....that's so annoying! Now I gotta start all over. :-p

Sorry!

Sorry I'm not posting much....it's been an incredibly busy week. :-) Guess what??? We got a minivan this week!! Bye bye to my old car. I loooooove the van we found, and boy did we get a good deal! Boy, I never thought I'd want to drive/own a minivan. :-p But I like it!

If you're a reader of my blog, please pray for my mom. The situation with M's husband is far from over, and since my mom is the one still in the area, and M is here, my mom is dealing with the brunt of everything, as far as cleaning up their apartment, paying for all the damage D did to the apartment, etc. Last night D called M and was angry because *according to him* my mom took all his stuff out of the apartment and threw it away. Not true, because all of his stuff was already gone from the apartment (along with some of M's stuff he stole/destroyed). Anyway, he made several threats against my mom and said "She doesn't know who the **** she's dealing with."
Perhaps he is all talk, but we do think D is on drugs again, and everyone knows how crazy and dangerous a person on drugs can be. Plus he has a history of violence, vandalism, etc.
BTW, the police can do nothing because "he didn't make any specific threats against my mom".
So please pray for my mom's safety more than anything else. Thanks!

That's about all the news for now. Both babies are snoozing at the moment so I've been doing some cleaning and catching up. There has been a lot of tension at times with M in our house....that's just the way it's going to be I guess when you have 3 adults living together in close quarters. It will be nice when she gets moved into her own house next month and things settle down again. I do love having my sister here!! I've missed my family so much, so it's been a lot of fun having a sister here to giggle with and have fun with. I think at times Jeremy thinks we're crazy, with all our giggling, "sister talk", etc. LOL

What a Day!!

This has been quite a day. :-p And not in a good way!
It all started at 12 am last night (or technically this morning). Levi woke up covered in the nastiest smelling vomit I've ever experienced. YUCK. He was also very very fussy, and had a fever. He got a midnight bath, screaming the whole time, and some Tylenol. He was awake until 2 am, then slept until 6 am. He again woke, very fussy and upset. This has continued all day....I can tell he feels really rotten, and he's had a fever that the medicine barely helps. Earlier, even with meds, his temp was 101.5. :-( Poor little man!
Anyway, he was wanted me to hold him all.day.long. That's not such a big deal, and I don't mind at all, but I have had Emily to take care of too since her mom is working today until 5. Luckily, she has been pretty good, and pretty low-maintenance, all day.
At the moment Levi seems to be doing better. His fever is down and he's actually playing and laughing a bit. I hope whatever bug he has is over soon--it makes me so sad to see him so miserable. :-(

My Life

My hands are full!!! ^^^^^^^^^^^

Uh-oh!! They're both crying at once! :-p

Hey, it's really not as bad as it looks! Right after I took this pic, they both fell asleep so I've got some time to myself. Amazing!
Things are going well. I really don't want to get into a lot of detail online, but M is doing good and feeling good (for the most part) and has come to realize some things. The only thing we are real worried about now is the possibility of a big custody battle. Prayers would be appreciated!
